The Darkness

darkness-wanchese.jpgCan you handle what lies in the darkness?  Head into the thick of the woods and prepare to be scared!  "The Darkness" is a creepy, cold walk in the spooky night that is sure to thrill!  Are you brave enough to walk amongst the ghosts and restless souls?  Closed toe shoes required.  Tickets are $13 each or $10 each with a group of 8 or more.


Evening Victorian Lantern Tours - Draped in Black

outer banks lantern tour.jpgThe costumed cast will take you on the spooky walk of a grieving Victorian widow.  Witness the unique and strange ways Victorian families mourned the loss of a loved one.  Hear stories of the Island Farm’s former residents and travel by lantern light to their final resting place; the family graveyard.  Space is limited and reservations are required.  Not recommended for children under 10 years old.  Tours run from 7pm until 9:30pm.  I went on this last year and it was FANTASTIC!  Tickets can be purchased at the door or online here for $8 per person.

outer banks fright night.jpgGet ready to be scared!  When night falls on the unforgiving shores of the Outer Banks, the mysteries of Roanoke Island come to life.  What will happen during your tour of the woods? Are you prepared for what America’s most mysterious island has in store? Are you brave enough to take on PsychoPath? This walking haunted trail will be open every Friday and Saturday night in October with the first tour leaving at dark and the last ticket sold at 11PM.  Comfortable shoes are encouraged, and casual clothing should protect you from all the scary creatures abound.  Tickets are $13 and can be purchased here.


Howl-O-Ween Red Wolf Howlings

outer banks haunted halloween howlReady to get your howl on?  For FREE?  Come learn about the endangered red wolf during a short presentation and journey to the heart of the refuge for an adventurous attempt to hear the haunting Halloween sounds of our captive red wolves.  The program will occur except with lightning, heavy wind or rain, or impassable road conditions.  Meet at Creef Cut Wildlife Trail parking lot.  MAP

Outer Banks Ghost Tours

Trick or Treat Under the Sea

Outer Banks Halloween EventsTrick or Treat Under the Sea celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year!  Expanding to two nights to accommodate more ghosts and goblins!  It is taking place at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island from 6-8:30 p.m.  Contests include “Scream” and “Costume,” along with many other action-packed activities.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Ages 2 and under are admitted free.   Advance purchase is HIGHLY recommended.  Tickets go on sale Oct. 1 at the Aquarium or online here.  Admission: $8 per person and $7.20 for members.
