What's Happening on the OBX this week This week is my top week of activities we have had all Summer long. With two of my favorite surfing events on the Outer Banks being in the same week, along with outdoor movies and more this all makes for a great week to be on the Outer Banks. As Summer on the Outer Banks begins to wind down, that doesn't mean the fun has to! There are still some great events going on for you and the family. Magnolia Art Market September 1 l Manteo, NC Transformed from a popular Manteo restaurant called the Magnolia Grill. After the restaurant closed due to a stalled economy, the Town of Manteo officials searched for ideas on what to do with the building. Have you ever wished you could see a surfing competition in person? Well, this could be another reason why the Outer Banks is awesome in the Fall. The best of the best in amateur surfing meet here, on the Outer Banks to battle it out. They have traveled up and down the East Coast claiming victory for this weekend and this weekend only. Where has the Summer gone? I can't believe I am writing about the last week of events for July. As we say goodbye to July, we welcome cooler temperatures, warmer ocean waters, and still the beautiful beaches we all know. Outer Banks Marathon & Southern Fried Half Marathon Calling all types of runners! Outer Banks Sporting Events has a race for every type of runner out there, all on the same weekend too. In November a diaper dash, Family Fun Run, 5k, Southern 6 miler, 10k, Southern Fried half marathon, and the big Outer Banks Marathon hit the roads and trails of our beautiful Dare county. Why run a race on the road when you can take on the challenge of running the Sandbar 5k? This race is presented by PNC bank and benefits an amazing organization, the Outer Banks Relief Foundation. They raise funds to help people on the Outer Banks with debilitating diseases and also families in crisis. What better way to help raise money than by running together? It's a win win for everyone!
