10th Annual Surfalorus Film Festival

Surfalorus File Festival

"Surftember", as many call this month, is underway and the 10th Annual Surfalorus Film Festival begins tomorrow! This unique event takes place at Jennette's Pier, showcasing the best of talent on the order cymbalta Outer Banks, and awesome events.

Not only is this a film festival, but they're also offering underwater filming workshops, hang gliding lessons, and jamming to some live music.

Tickets required to attend films, there is an offer of individual passes ($10) or a full festival pass, which includes all admission to all showings ($22). **Note that face masks are required inside NC Aquarium buildings (Jennette's Pier and Aquarium on Roanoke Island)

THE BIRTH OF THE ENDLESS SUMMER

The Birth of the Endless Summer follows Californian surf pioneer, Dick Metz, as he vagabonds the globe from 1958-1961. Metzs train-jumping, steamship-hopping tour, in the vein of On the Road and The Motorcycle Diaries, led to Metzs discovery of the perfect wave at Cape St. Francis, South Africa. Dicks travels not only inspired his friend, Bruce Brown, but also paved the way for The Endless Summer to become a reality. Birth of The Endless Summer follows the 90-year old Metz back to South Africa to retrace the steps of his original journey.

Charlie is 10 years old and diagnosed with Aspergers. He is proud of his diagnosis but sometimes he wishes he could be more like the other boys in his class. Feeling different makes him feel left out at times. Because of his Aspergers Charlie struggles with team sports. But he has found two things he loves to do, surfing and dancing. We follow Charlie through ups and downs at this years surf camp.

Out Front, created to celebrate core surf communities around the world by showcasing their unique wavescapes, culture and local surfers filmed by local filmmakers. There's a lot more to the Outer Banks of North Carolina than a few salty miles of Cape Hatteras real estate, OBX propaganda and pirate lore. Young local filmmaker and proud townie Logan Marshall hunted high and low and steep and deep to unearth a fresh perspective on a historically enchanting place.

Kauai Hawaii, while known for its garden of Eden-like beauty, has a handful of underrated, under-the-radar world-class rippers. They've been groomed over the shallow razor-sharp reefs and under heavy barreling sections that wrap around the island yearly. Sombrio Surf

Sombrio Beach on Vancouver Island made headlines in the late 90s when its community of squatters was evicted. But the 13 years that Leah Oke spent surfing daily at Sombrio, solidified her future as one of Canadas pioneers in cold-water surfing.
