Now that the new year is underway, it’s time to start planning your yearly running race schedule. With all the beautiful views the Outer Banks has to offer, it makes running seem easier here. From 1/4 mile Little Elf jog to the Outer Banks Marathon and Outer Banks Triathlon, there is fun and challenges for all ages and skill levels. Race proceeds benefit the Outer Banks SPCA. Starts Sunday February 2nd at 8AM at the George Washington Creef Boathouse in Manteo. First place awards will be given. There will be on course hydration and medical services.

Run along the “Graveyard of the Atlantic” coast where many ships have met their doom. 102.7 mile course point-to-point traveling the entire length of our paved highway, seeing 3 NC lighthouses. Cut off time is 30 hours. There is a 100k race also.

On Saturday, run with a mission. A mission to find the pot of gold on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend. This is a 5 mile/8k point to point course. You will pick up some heat on the road, and rough it through some trails but in the end it will all be worth it.

The first 5k run takes you through South Nags Head, setting you up for a challenging 20 mile bike ride through Pea Island Wildlife Refuge, with the last 5k run on the newly restore beaches by Jennette’s Pier. Beach cruiser division available.

Outer Banks Ultramarathon

The Ultramarathon is the first Outer Banks 50k Distance Marathon. It takes you from Currituck Beach Lighthouse to end on the beach by the Wright Brothers Memorial. If you are up for the challene, the Ultramarathon will take it!

A fun and adventurous event to do with your mom the Saturday before Mother’s Day. All ages welcome to run through one of the most beautiful remaining maritime forest. Race starts 8:30 AM. Fastest Mom on the Beach, Fast Elementary students.

Runners will go through a storm of obstacles on a 3mile or 5mile course of their choice. 7:40AM and 8AM start times. Make sure to stick around for the beach after-party till 11am, free for participants.
