Summer is officially underway on the Outer Banks! With events going on every week it can be hard to pick which ones to go to. For starters, here is a list of all events, with a few recommendations by Katlyn.

ISAF Catamaran Championship

Brought to you by SAIL NC, watch all the catamarans battle it out for the title of the ISAF International A-Class Catamaran North American Champion. This is the first major regatta to take place locally. Races going underway at Roanoke Island and running from June 9 – June 14.

Comedy Club presents Sid Davis

June 11 & June 12 l Kill Devil Hills

Whether it’s a “parents night out” while on vacation, Sid Davis with Jimmy Merrit will keep you laughing the whole time. Davis brings the term “laughter is contagious” to life! He has been named “hilarious and original”. Don’t miss this night full of laughter. Located at the Comedy Club

Windmill Point Art Fair

June 12th l Nags Head

Free admission to the public with free parking. Just about any type of artwork will be on display. Photographers, sculptors, painters, map makers, blacksmiths, stained glass and so much more. Open from 10am – 6pm Thursday only.

First Fridays at Manteo

*Katlyn’s pick : From April to December the Waterfront at Manteo holds a special event the first Friday of every month. There will be live music, specials offered in the local shoppes, and delicious foods from the surrounding restaurants. Great evening of walking, entertainment, shopping, and dining.

Movies on the Sound

June 13th l Nags Head

Monsters University is playing this Friday at the Nags Head Event Site. This is a sound front location with a beautiful sunset view. Gates open at 7pm and parking is $10/car. Presented by Children at Play. Bring a picnic, bug spray, pillows and more.

4th Annual Family Fishing Tournament

June 14th l Jennette’s Pier

* Katlyn’s pick.  Fishing, family, and fun all come together at Jennette’s Pier every year. This event is what Jennette’s likes to call the kick off of Summertime. Whether you walk away with a trophy, or your very own rod and reel combination it will be fun for everyone in the family.

Magnolia Art Market

June 14th l Manteo

A collaboration of Outer Banks talent sharing their knowledge and skills. This open air pavilion will have all types of art of display, located in the beautiful downtown Manteo. Open from 10 A.M. to  6 P.M.

Storm the Beach

*Katlyn’s pick. What better way to bond as a family than to run Storm the Beach together? Six obstacles, 4 different races, team or individual. Located at Jennette’s Pier. Sign up is closed now, but sign up is available at packet pick-up on Saturday from 5-7:30 P.M. at Jennette’s Pier.

1964 – The Tribute

June 15th l Manteo

*Katlyn’s pick. Love the sound of the Beatles? 1964 – The Tribute takes their audiences on a musical journey through rock history. We welcome them to the Roanoke Island Festival Park this Sunday. Tickets are $30.
