"A hidden gem! Immaculate and perfect! The house was incredibly clean, on a quiet street with plenty of privacy. Much closer to the beach than I expected! They had some welcome snacks on the counter and drinks in the fridge with a lovely welcome note. The new deck is beautiful. The outdoor shower was very large you could easily shower multiple kids. It was so nice that we never even used the indoor showers (except once). They had very well written instructions on how to access TV/Roku and attaching your own devices. This place is a hidden gem! We stayed two weeks but could have easily stayed longer. We would most definitely rent this place again. Kudos to the owners!"

Drift Away was a great find. The house was very comfortable and conveniently located in Southern Shores. We didn't have as many of our family members with us this year vacationing, so this was the absolute perfect get-away for us! Also worth noting, the owners have done a fabulous job with the decor, upkeep and making renters feel at home!

What a wonderful place for a family to spend a vacation! Where do I start?! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly note from the owners along with snacks and beverages. Definitely a welcome sight for weary travelers. This is a spacious, clean 3BR 2BA home with plenty of indoor and outdoor room for relaxing. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, utensils, cups, cookware and more. We opted to purchase the sheets/towels and we were so glad we did! Less to pack! Also has outdoor shower, beach chairs and plenty of hanging space for wet towels. You can see the beach access at the end of your street, only a two minute walk from the house (fantastic sunrises). Duck is a 30 minute walk on a safe sidewalk (beautiful sunsets). Great shopping in Duck. All surrounding communities (Corolla, Kittyhawk, KDH, Nags Head) are an easy drive. Southern Shores Realty made the rental check-in/out process simple. Would definitely rent here again. Highly recommend!

"We had a wonderful time and we were very comfortable at Drift Away. We especially enjoyed how well-equipped, nicely furnished, and kid-friendly the home was, as well as the privacy and wildlife surrounding the house. The kitchen had almost everything we needed to cook meals, and the goodies left for us by the owners were a very nice touch. There was plenty of toilet paper, soaps, and cleaning supplies so that we didn't need to bring or buy much at all. The air conditioning worked great as did all the appliances. Love that the freezer was full of ice when we arrived and the house was very clean. We also really enjoyed the screened in porch with a nice picnic table and the ceiling fans on the porch and throughout the house.
No ant infestation like we have seen with other homes we've rented in the OBX. The only minor thing that could use improvement is perhaps a better mattress and maybe even a king size bed in the master bedroom. We loved the area, and the walk to the beach was nice and short.  Overall, I would highly recommend this house for a family vacation. It has literally everything you need and more."

Drift Away was such a little gem of a rental, there was a mini library full of beach reads, games and puzzles and DVDs, ample hooks everywhere you needed them (making it easy for our family to dry swimsuits and towels), a great outdoor shower, lots of pots/pans and appliances. The owners make everything feel comfortable and homey. Plus, the location can't be beat--a short walk to Duck, 100 yards to the beach and tucked away in a grove of trees, making our vacation feel private and calm. I highly recommend this little rental.
