Checking into Outer Banks Vacation Home

Take a moment to read if you want your check in day to go smoothly. You will want to be fully prepared on the day of arrival so that the ride is enjoyable as well as your first day here. I am writing this article for new guests to the Outer Banks who may need some insight on what to do on your arrival day while waiting to check in. We know that you are anxious to get the week started, but it is better to go ahead and plan the first day, for you possibly may have to wait until 4 p.m. (check in time). A lot of travelers arrive very early, hoping that they can check in right away. This is not always possible. So Southern Shores Realty is giving you the BEST advice for the first day of your vacation.Make it a beach day! Nothing is better than relaxing on our beaches; you may read a book, take a nice warm nap, jump in for a swim, or even go on a stroll to take in all the beauty. Southern Shores Realty works hard to get everything prepared for you as fast as possible. All you need to do is drop by our office, and give us a number to reach you , so that we can call you to come pick up your keys when your house is ready. The first beach access, located next to Kitty Hawk pier is conveniently less than 1 mile from our office. No one wants to sit in the parking lot while waiting to be able to check in especially after a long car ride. Many guests find themselves wondering "What now?", because it is hot, everyone is hungry, the younger ones have been squirming for the last few hours, and you must wait for the house to be ready. Just make the best of it, and avoid this negative encounter simply by making it into a fun beach day! Make sure to pack a lunch for everyone including extra beverages especially water, towels to relax on, shade, and don't forget the sun block! Put this stuff somewhere that you will be able to locate it easily, again stay stress free, and be sure to keep it simple. You will have all week to enjoy the beach toys! Time flies while enjoying the beach so your home will be ready in absolutely no time at all. Head south (right turn) from our office, and take a left at the first light you come to. Drive past the Hilton Garden Inn, and turn down Byrd St (.5 miles from light). Parking is on your right; open to the public. Our staff of vacation specialists are here to assist you with any information that you may need with professional etiquette to make your check in a smooth process. Southern Shores Realty provides a phone system that immediately contacts you when your vacation home is ready; therefore, you do not have to worry about when to be back for your keys. This is a service that our guests love, and the convenience of it is PERFECT! We also provide certain houses with keypads so you can completely skip stopping in at the office. Check in time is still 4 p.m., but may be as late as 5 p.m. (call to let staff know you have arrived in the area). Say you are running late, or stuck in traffic? Our office stays open until 6 p.m. for this cause. If you do not think you will make it by 6 p.m., just give the office a call, and staff will prompt you with specific instructions. Southern Shores Realty takes pride when it comes to taking care of our customers. We want you to have a great experience on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and trust me it is hard not to!
