Our 18-hole championship golf course was designed by the renowned architect Ellis Maples, and opened in 1969. Before his death in 1984, Ellis and his design team had created over 70 golf courses in the Southeast, including Pinehurst #5. There are four sets of tees at Duck Woods: Black (6650 yds, 72.5/138), Blue (6183 yds, 70.2/131), White (5655 yds, 68.1/114, 73.3/133), and Green (4967, 70.0/118). Our driving range, short game and sand bunker practice areas, and practice green provide a year-round facility to hone every aspect of your game. Duck Woods’ commitment to providing the finest golf facilities for our members and their guests is unrivaled in coastal Carolina.
Furthering that commitment on a daily basis is our talented staff of PGA golf professionals. They are led by our PGA Head Professional, Aaron Palen and our GM/COO Patrick O’Keefe, who has been a member of the PGA of America for over 30 years. The professional staff have fine credentials in golf instruction (including the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf) along with PGA tournament experience. Duck Woods’ golf shop offers outstanding service plus a fine selection of quality apparel, equipment and supplies are among the best in the region including: Titleist, FootJoy, Callaway, Taylor Made, Cobra, Ping, Adidas, and much more.
Duck Woods members and their guests enjoy a wide variety of golf activities including tournaments and special events, individual and group instruction (including playing lessons), men’s and ladies’ leagues & recreational golf groups, couples golf, beginner women’s programs, fun-filled junior programs, and much more. Most events are of a social nature and a few competitive. We also offer home & away tournaments in conjunction with several southern Virginia area country clubs. A special feature is that you can play at over 200 golf courses around the country at special rates through our participation in the Private Club Network Program.
Other available services include men’s and ladies locker rooms, bag and pull cart storage, club repair, range plan, Hole-In-One program, and USGA golf handicaps. Member tee times may be booked up to three weeks in advance and all new members receive a complimentary golf evaluation/lesson.
Guests of Members may play golf at Duck Woods. Two rates are offered: Accompanied and Unaccompanied. Accompanied guests play in the company of the Member. Unaccompanied guest rates are slightly higher than Accompanied. Rates vary according to the time of year and are charged to the Member’s account.
Visitors to our club may play at tourist rates when tee times are available.
