Nor'Banks: Level 2 Sailing Camp

Students will receive their US Sailing Red Book and learn safety and develop basic sailing skills on land and in the water. Waterman's Ocean Adventure Camp(Full, call to be added to a waitlist)

Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC 27959 -MAPPhone: 252-255-1501 x207Think surf, sun and sand. Learn skills needed to be a true waterman - surfing, fishing and kayaking. At low tide, go surfing with Farmdog Surf School of Nags Head. Campers participate in a different water adventure each day. They explore an estuary ecosystem while kayaking, catch fish off the pier and in nearby sound-side waters. They even train as lifeguards, learning water safety and how to read the beach for dangerous systems such as rip currents. Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ages 8 and up.

Jr. Aquatic Adventures Summer Camp

Get wet in the waves, muck around for hermit crabs in the salt marsh, and splash on a snorkeling adventure. Campers meet aquarium animals up close, fish from Jennette's Pier, make new friends, and much more. Top off the week with a little friendly competition against Jennette's Pier campers in a session of Beach Olympics, and an afternoon social and Aquarium tour for campers and their parents! Closed toe shoes, a bag lunch, and necessary field gear are required. Tuesday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.Ages: 7-9.

Ocean Explorers (Full, call to be added to a waitlist)

Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC 27959 -MAPPhone: 252-255-1501 x207Get ready to explore the ocean and various organisms found in area ecosystems during this exciting, hands-on and adventurous weeklong camp. Students explore nearby sound and ocean waters as they collect organisms with nets, buckets, and other sampling tools. Campers build plankton nets and catch and examine various crustaceans. They also explore the world of cephalopods, dissect squid and learn all about fish. Learn to kayak as the week concludes by exploring Ginguite Creek in Kitty Hawk. Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ages 8 to 13.

Eco-Educators Camp

Teen aquarium campers spend a portion of the week with the children attending "Small Fry" camp at Jennette's Pier to assist with crafts, lead an activity, and go on a field trip. The remainder of the time is spent educating at the touch tanks, assisting with public programming, and learning what its like to help out in other areas of the aquarium. The week provides a sample experience of how you can help out as an aquarium volunteer.Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.Ages: 13-16.

Small "Fry" Fish Camp(Full, call to be added to a waitlist)

They learn how to fish off of the pier, in the surf and in the sound, all while learning about fish and their habitat. On day one, campers learn to cast safely by using casting plugs without using hooks. Then, the small fries try fishing for plastic replicas of species that anglers catch on and around the pier. Next, campers learn how to set up their own rod and bait their own hook. They also participate in a variety of arts and crafts, including a make-and-take fish print T-shirt project and games such as Food Web Frenzy. Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ages 5 to 7.

Campers learn to fish in a variety of ecosystems for all types of species in this sun-filled, fun-filled weeklong camp. They learn to cast and fish from the pier, in the surf, in the nearby sound waters, as well as in freshwater habitats near Alligator River. Each day is a new adventure and campers learn various fishing skills. Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ages 8 and up.

1st Annual Outer Banks Evening Lacrosse Camp

Saltwater to Saltshaker: The Ocean and Its Bounty

Venture out to catch shrimp and crabs, as you realize what it takes to harvest seafood and bring it to your table. Campers identify local catch, tour a fish packing house, and race to see who can head shrimp the fastest. Discover more about sea turtles and watermen efforts to save these animals from the perils of their nets. Do you think that you could clean fish, mend nets, recycle oyster shells, and cook a daily catch? The week will conclude with a camper-prepared seafood meal on Friday. From conservation to cooking, see a watermans side of seafood!Tuesday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.Ages: 10-12.

Nor'Banks: Intro to Watersports Camp

Sailing is an introduction to the concept of sailing. The class will learn about types of boats, boating safety, and students will spend time on the water with our instructors learning skills. For kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, students will learn the basic strokes, maneuvering, and safety on the water and then we will tour the Currituck Sound as a group and explore wildlife both above and below the water. Paddling is a great way for kids to get out on the water, explore nature and get some good physical activity as well.Tuesday thru Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Ages 8 to 14.

Fisheries Science Camp

Campers work with staff from Jennette's Pier and the UNC Coastal Studies Institute as they learn about fish habitats, behavior and the differences among species. They also find out how fisheries science data is collected before collecting and analyzing their own data. Along the way, campers dissect fish and spend time in the field exploring the world of fisheries. Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ages 10 to 15.

Aquatic Adventures Summer Camp

Campers will spend time collecting in the field, snorkeling, kayaking, pier fishing, and splashing on other outdoor activities. The week concludes with a Friday evening overnight for campers and their parents at the Aquarium!Tuesday through Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.Ages: 10-12.

Science Behind the Sea Day Camp
