Monday July 15th:

Backyard Birds:

Every Monday, come out to the Elizabethan Gardens for a session on Backyard Birds. Kids will learn how to draw birds and make a treat for the birds in their own backyard. After the program, children and their families are welcome to take part in a scavenger-hunt held in the gardens. A snack will be provided. The program is free with admission to the gardens, but space is limited! (1411 National Park Drive, Manteo, NC 27954)

Nags Head Morning Paddle:

Don't miss the chance to kayak or paddle board along the marshes of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. On the tour, keep an eye out for coastal birds such as terns, pelicans, or ibis. The highlight of the tour are the dolphins that swim and play right next to you. Morning kayak prices are $45 per person and $30 for children under 12. There is a $60 flat rate for individuals wishing to use stand up paddle boards. (7531 S Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC, 27959)

Tuesday July 16th:

The Princess Bride:

At dusk, come out to the Duck Town Green for a community showing of the classic movie The Princess Bride. The movie is action packed with fencing, revenge, giants, chase scenes, epic escapes, true love, and miracles. A great tale for viewers of all ages, the Princess Bride is sure to be a perfect family event. Lawn chairs, coolers, and pets are welcome. Additional concessions will be available for purchase courtesy of OBX Popcorn Shoppe. (8:30pm - 10:30pm, 1200 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949)

Full Moon Tour of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse:

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore offers a unique experience to climb the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse under the light of the full moon. Take this chance to experience the lighthouse as historic light keepers would have on their nightly walks. The tour is led by Park Rangers who will share stories of past light keepers. You will even get a chance to look at the working light in the lantern room! This event requires a ticket purchase. (8:30pm & 9:30pm, 46379 Lighthouse Rd, Buxton, NC 27920)

Wednesday July 17th:

rePercussion:

rePurcussion combines comedy and world class drumming into an exciting variety show for individuals of all ages. rePercussion has been performing for more than ten years, and this week they will perform at the Duck Amphitheater. Tickets are free, but they must be picked up from the Urban Cottage beginning Monday, July 15th @ 10:00am. (10:00am - 11:00am, 1200 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949)

Winnie the Pooh the Musical:


A.A. Milne's world of the Hundred Acre Wood is brought to life in Winnie-the-Pooh The Musical. See all of your favorite characters on stage at the Roanoke Island Festival Park. Join Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and the rest of the gang as they find themselves in a bit of trouble. The show begins at 10:30am and tickets are on sale for $5 each. Thursday July 18th:

Helpful Bugs:

On Thursday, come out to the Elizabethan Gardens for a session on Helpful Bugs. Kids will learn how bugs can help gardens grow using hands-on activities. Hula Hoop & Play:

Every Thursday morning starting at 9:00am, the Town of Duck hosts a Hula Hoop & Play class for kids in the area. Kids will learn how to hoop around the waist, play fun games with hula hoops, and even try out some tricks. Please bring a hula hoop if you have one, but if you don't, they will be provided at the event. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and for the comfort of your kids bring a yoga mat or towel for them to sit on. (1200 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949)

Friday July 19th:

Children's Story Time:

Every Friday morning, join Duck's Cottage and Island Bookstore on the steps of the Paul F. Keller Meeting hall for story time. This is a great opportunity for the kids to get outside and learn. Story Time will take place every Friday at 10:00am through September 6th. (1200 Duck Road, Duck, NC, 27949)

Roxy Beach Day:

Join Roxy in a fun-filled beach day catered towards girls and women of all ages. The event begins at 9:00am on the Rodanthe Beach access. Here you can enjoy surfing, bodyboarding, kiteboarding lessons, and beach yoga on the sand! There will also be additional beach games near the REAL Watersports center. After taking a break for lunch, come back for many more beach activities including a Roxy stand, cornhole, and braids and beads. (9:00am - 3:00pm, 23713 Midgett Dr, Nags Head, NC 27959)

Saturday July 20th:

Open Mic Jam Night:

Join acoustic duo Rollo and Mitch every Saturday at the Jolly Roger for Open Mic Jam Night. Pickers and singers are welcome to jump in act and give an exciting performance. Open mic takes place every Thursday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. (1836 N Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948)

50th Anniversary Of Apollo 11 Moon Landing:

One Giant Leap is a celebration of flight and human ingenuity from the first man powered flight to the first man on the moon. 50 years ago, Neil Armstrong became the first man to take a step on the moon. On Saturday, travel through time to explore how the innovations of the past have led us to where we are today. At 5:00pm, the park will be open for exploration and various park officials will host Ranger talks. Beginning at 6:30pm, the program will commence, speakers are set to be announced later. At 7:30pm, the rebroadcast of the original Apollo 11 news coverage will begin. This event is free and open to the public, so don't miss out! (5:00pm - 9:30pm, 1000 N. Outer Banks Skim Jam:

Check out competitors from amateur to professional skill levels as they compete in the Outer Banks Skim Jam at Jennette's Pier. The even will run Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The deadline for entering the competition is July 17th at midnight. Click here for more information on registration.
